Chateau Bu-De Vineyard & Winery

"Born out of our love of fine wines and cheeses, Chateau Bu-De Vineyard & Winery has become the premiere location for fine wines. After traveling the world and sampling different wines, proprietors, Brenda & Warren Dedrick, decided to make their way back to the US and craft the finest wines right here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Their biggest challenge was finding high-quality grapes for world class wines. Hence, the vineyard was established. They are dedicated to offering only the finest wines & have also taken great care in assembling a fabulous team of winemaker's, vintners & employees. The family-owned vineyard & winery is located on 440 acres a top the Bohemia River & Scenic Byway 213 in Chesapeake City, Maryland. The original site of Augustine Herrman's™ historical Bohemia Manor Farm™. Augustine Herrman was the founder of Bohemia Manor and the first Lord of the manor. "There is absolutely no substitute for the best. Good wines cannot be made of inferior grapes masked with high flavor. It is true thrift to use the best grapes available and to waste nothing."            - Brenda Dedrick, proprietor

Turkey Point Vineyard

When Doris inherited part of the family farm, she wanted to keep it in the family. She wanted to use the land as it was meant to be used, and try to make something out of it, something that would make her ancestors proud, and something that could be left to future generations. There aren't many options for a small farmer. A vineyard sounded like an attractive possibility, albeit a difficult one. Not one to shy away from a challenge, she and her husband, Eric, began designing the future vineyard in 2007. "How can we keep the deer out? How should we arrange the rows? How far apart should the rows be? How much land should we plant in grapes? What variety of grapes should we grow" The questions seemed endless! Eventually the decisions were made and we moved forward to where we are today! This is only the beginning....

Chuck Nunan began making wine in his basement in 1995 with rave reviews. In 2010, during a trip to Charleston, South Carolina for his son’s wedding, Chuck visited a winery there and was inspired to take his love of wine and winemaking and turn it into something bigger. He and his wife, Chris, had purchased land in 2005 for a family farm in Marydel, Delaware, which he decided to turn into Harvest Ridge Winery. As a family farm winery, family comes first. The Nunan family is headed by Chuck and Chris. Their first (very successful) joint venture began in 1974 when they got married. Their three sons, Chip, Christopher, and Craig are all nearby and work in the family businesses. All three boys are married and there are currently eight grandchildren. The theme of “family” is evident even in the Harvest Ridge logo. The roots of the Harvest Ridge tree are prominent, in part to reflect the deep roots and lineage of the Nunan family.
